Learning to Read is
so Sweet!!!
These are the sight words that our class will be
working on this year. I refer to them in class as
"snappy words" (words they should know in a snap).

Please work on these words daily with your child.
Sight words are high-frequency words often seen in
print. Many of these words are difficult to sound out
and thus require some memorization. Sight word
recognition is very important in developing reading
fluency--the speed/rate at which your child reads.
The better the fluency, the easier it will be for your
child to comprehend what has been read.

Ideas for Practice at Home:
Flash-cards
Sight Word Bingo
Sight Word Hopscotch
Sight Word Go Fish
Sight Word Memory Game
Find and circle sight words in the newspapers,
magazines, etc.
